Magnetic
Stripe
The magnetic stripe is made of magnetic particles of resin.
The resin
particle material determines the coercivity of the magnetic
stripe;
the higher the coercivity, the harder it is to encode and erase
information from the stripe. There are 2 types of coercivity;
loco
(300 oerstedt) and hico (2.750 or 4.000 oerstedt). Normally
magnetic
stripes has 3 tracks, each of these tracks can be encoded with
data,
making the card ready for use. Magnetic stripe technology allows
for
the storage of moderate amounts of data. Magnetic stripe cards
are
often used in; ATM`s, access control, time and attendance,
lunch
programs, library cards and more.
